Baton of leadership recently changed hands at the Holy Martyrs of Uganda Seminary, Effurun after nine years, as the Catholic Bishop of Warri, Most Rev. John Afareha announced the appointment of Rev. Fr. Lucas Eke as the new rector.
The inaugural Mass which was officiated by the bishop and joined by the out gone Rector, Rev. Fr. Dr. Abraham Eyitene, the Vice Rector, Rev. Fr. Harrison Egwuenu, the incoming Rector, Rev. Fr. Lucas Eke and the bishop Secretary, Rev. Fr. Cletus Okafor, holds at the Seminary Chapel.
In his remarks, the bishop appreciated the former rector for the many feat he achieved during his nine years and three months of undaunted and meritorious service. He thanked the students and parents for their understanding and commitment in ensuring the standard of the institution remained high both in academic, moral and spiritual formation.
Most Rev. Afareha also at the inaugural Mass formally announced the appointment of the new rector, Rev. Fr. Lucas Eke and officially installed him as the rector of the institution.
He admonished the incoming rector to bring in his youthful ideas, energy and commitment in ensuring the seminary stand tall amongst others. He wished the new rector a very best in his new assignment.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Eyitene was appointed rector of the institution around 2010, and has since been the rector of the institution while until his recent appointment, Rev. Fr. Lucas Eke was the parish priest of St. Peter’s Catholic Church Okuokoko, new Effurun.
