A.        INTRODUCTION

The Music Academy of the Catholic Diocese of Warri is an institution established by the diocese for promoting the formation of Christ’s faithful in the correct practice of liturgical music in the Diocese and beyond; to provide  musical studies according to the spirit of Catholic Education  so as to promote full, conscious, and active participation in the Sacred Liturgy as well as  the sanctification of daily life and work.

B.        ESTABLISHMENT

His Lordship, Most Rev. Richard Burke, SPS, verbally established the institution on the 29th of October 2006, during His pastoral visit/Confirmation to St. Jude Catholic Church, G.R.A. Effurun. The circular authorizing this institution was issued by His Grace, Most Rev. Richard Burke, SPS, on the 18th of February, 2008. This letter was addressed to all Priests, Religious and Faithful of Warri Diocese.

C.        LOCATION

For a takeoff, St. Jude Catholic Church, G.R.A. graciously made provisions for accommodation facilities and some musical instruments worth hundred thousands of Naira; thanks to the inspiration and generosity of Rev. Fr. Augustine Eruotor and his Parishioners. It then moved to Holy Martyrs of Uganda Minor Seminary, Enerhen Road, Effurun, Delta State, Nigeria, in 2009 where it currently uses as its temporary site. The permanent site of Music Academy, Catholic Diocese of Warri, is now what was formerly known as St. Joseph College, Ozoro,

Committed to restoring Order, Dignity and Decorum to Sacred Music in the Catholic Liturgy in particular and music in general.
