WARRI, NIGERIA- The Holy Father, Pope Francis on October 17, 2019 appointed Rt. Rev. Moses CHIKWE of the clergy of Owerri Archdiocese, and director of Education in the Archdiocese, as the Auxiliary Bishop of Owerri Archdiocese (Nigeria), assigning him the titular seat of Flumenzer.
Rev. Moses Chikwe was born on April 4, 1967 in Uzoagba-Ikeduru, Imo State. He entered the “St. Peter Claver” Minor Seminary, Okpala, and continued his studies in Philosophy at St. Joseph Major Seminary, Ikote-Ekpene and Theology at the Bigard Memorial Major Seminary in Enugu. He was ordained a priest of Owerri Archdiocese on 6th July, 1996.
Since his priestly ordination he has held the following positions; Parish Vicar, Holy Cross Parish, Emii 1996-1997, Parish Vicar, St Columba Parish, Amaimo 1997-1998, Assistant Editor of The Leader Newspaper and Assistant Director of “Assumpta Printing House” both of Owerri Archdiocese 1998-2002.
He later went on studies at the Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles California 2002-2005, at the same time Chaplain at the Los Angeles Medical Center, Archdiocese of Los Angeles 2005-2010.
He had his Doctoral Studies at the University of California in Los Angeles 2006-2013, and at the same time in residence at the Visitation and St. Mark Parish, Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He was also chaplain at the Veterans Administration Medical Center of America 2008-2010.
Archdiocese for the Military Service of United States of America 2008-2010 at the same time in residence at St. Charles Borremeo and St. Joseph Cathedral of San Diego and also a collaborator of the information communication technology ICT, director Archdiocese of Owerri, with pastoral ministry at St. Joseph Parish in Uzoagba 2016.
Adjust Director of the Education of the Archdiocese of Owerri 2017-2018 and director of the Education of the Archdiocese of Owerri in residence at St. Thomas parish in Owerri 2018 till date.
