Catholic faithful and christians in general have been advised to stick tenaciously to Christians values that are profitable to them and pleasant in the sight of God instead of chasing modernity that has soured the relationship between God and man.
This admonition was given to pilgrims on Wednesday, October 30, by Very Rev. Fr. Godwin Orudje when he delivered a homily during the Mass of thanksgiving to conclude the annual Marian devotion of October at Our Lady of Visitation Shrine, Oleri in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.
While calling on Christians to fervently pray at all time, the Dean and Vicar for Ughelli Episcopal Region, charged Catholics to continually pray the rosary which he assured is a great weapon to fight the devil. He lamented some strange happenings in the society which he attributed to sins of mankind, stating that there is the need for all christians to faithfully hold on to God in prayers and to also call on the Blessed Virgin Mary for her intercession.
.
He called on pilgrims not to allow civilization or modernity to control their life or lead them away from their faith as many have discarded their old Christians and Catholic values in the name of civilization and modernity. A situation he said; has made such Catholics to ignorantly abandoned the Catholic teachings, norms, tradition and values of the mother church.
Rev. Fr. Orudje further charged every Catholics to explicitly cheersihed the prayers of the holy rosary which he revealed made the devil to tremble. In the words of Pope Saint John Paul II, he said;  ” The rosary bring christian people together in communion with Mary”. He noted that  praying the holy rosary is of great importance to every Catholics who believe his or her faith.
