Warri Diocese, Nigeria- Catholic faithful, Parishioners and the entire presbyterate of the Catholic diocese of Enugu have been thrown into mourning over the untimely death of one of their priest, Rev. Fr. Clement Rapuluchukwu Ugwu, who was abducted by gunmen in his parish.
Rev. Fr. Clement was abducted in his parish, St. Mark Catholic Church, Obinofia-Ndiuno in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State and found dead days later.
According reliable source, the priest was in his parish rectory on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 when gunmen suspected to be kidnappers stormed his house in a commando-style at about 9pm and shot him before taking him away.
The source further revealed that the suspects took the priest away in his Blue Colour Toyota Prado Jeep. The source said, the manner and way he was whisked out of the parish rectory, made his parishioners to suspects that the gunmen might be kidnappers.
Rev. Fr. Clement was ordained Catholic priest in 2000 for the diocese of Enugu and he has served the diocese for about nineteen years before his brutal murder. He was buried on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 amid tears after requim Mass presided by Most Rev. Callistus Onaga, Bishop of Enugu Diocese.
