WARRI DIOCESE, NIGERIA- In her efforts to fraternize, engage and seek the firm support of relevant stakeholders in the communications apostolate, the newly inaugurated executives of SIGNIS Nigeria shall be embarking on a nationwide tour.
According to the President of SIGNIS Nigeria, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Patrick Alumuku, the courtesy visits which will commence from Abuja next week Monday, November 12, 2019, will spread across the various ecclesiastical regions in the country.
In his words, “We shall commence the visit next Monday in Abuja where we shall be visiting the Cardinal, Secretary General of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, (new and outgoing) and meet with other stakeholders such as CAMPAN and CAEAN. We hope to share with them our vision for SIGNIS Nigeria and also get their input on how best to move the communications apostolate in Nigeria forward.”
On Tuesday, the team will move to Jos to meet with Communicators in the Archdiocese, including a courtesy visit to the Archbishop of Jos, Most Rev. Dr. Kaigama and the State Governor.
The team will from Jos berth at the Easter region on November 26 with a visit to Enugu diocese where they will be inaugurating the new Local Organizing Committee for SIGNIS Film and Video Festival 2019. This will be followed by a visit to the Local Ordinary, amongst others.
Fr. Alumuku revealed further; that Awka and Onitsha will be the next ports of call with a visit to the Bishop of Awka, while at Onitsha we shall meet with the Chairman of Communications CBCN, Bishop Denis Isizor, and the Archbishop of Onitsha and other key stakeholders. From there we shall move to Benin to visit Archbishop Augustine Akubeze.”
The SIGNIS executive train will from there travel to Lagos and Ibadan ecclesiastical provinces, begining from January 2019. Among the dignitaries to be visited include: Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Dr Alfred Adewale Martins, Most Rev. Dr. Gabriel Abegunrin of Ibadan; Bishop Emmanuel Badejo of Oyo and Bishop Felix Ajakaiye of Ekiti, amongst several others.
To make the scheduled visits resounding successes, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Patrick Alumuku urges SIGNIS members across the various dioceses scheduled for the tours to come out en-mass and accord the executives a befitting reception.
It could be recalled that the new SIGNIS Executives were elected last May at the National Delegates Conference held in Elele, Port Harcourt. Their tenure will span through the next four years
