BARELY three weeks after a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Michael of the Archdiocese of Abuja was murdered by yet to be identified gunmen in a supermarket, another Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Jude Egbom of the Catholic Diocese of Orlu has again be murdered on September 10, by unknown gunmen where he was having a hair cut.

The death of the Catholic priest has thrown the entire Catholic Community in Nigeria into mourning with several questions calling for an answer.

Rev. Fr. Jude who visited his home town Umuwala on the fateful day was shot several times in the chest at a salon where he was having a hair cut at Nkkwerre alongside his seminarian when the killers stormed the salon.

Rev. Fr. Jude Egbom was said to have died immediately while his seminarian was also injured and others hit by stray bullets.

It could be recalled that some Catholic priests in the different dioceses in Nigeria have suffered death at the hands of unknown armed men while others have had to face trauma of kidnapping. Just a week ago, a Catholic priest of Warri Diocese was abducted while a priest from Nnewi diocese is still missing after months of abduction.

The police and other security agencies are at the moment called upon to provide security for innocent citizens.

Until his gruesome murder, Rev. Fr. Jude Egbom was the parish priest of St. Patrick Catholic Church Amucha.
