The Holy See has appointed a new National Director of Pontifical Mission Societies for
Nigeria in the person of Very Rev. Fr. Solomon Patrick Zaku, from the Catholic Diocese of Maiduguri.
This followed the expiration of tenure of the former PMS National Director, Very Rev. Fr. George Olusegun Ajana, from the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti.
Fr. Ajana has since handed over to his successor after serving for a period of ten years at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Abuja.
The Pontifical Mission Societies, known in some countries as Missio, is the name of a group of Catholic missionary societies that are under the jurisdiction of the Pope. Since 1922,
the Pontifical Mission Societies have been the official missionary arm of the Church charged with the work of evangelization and charitable works throughout the world.
