Plans and arrangements to established three new faculties and programmes in Veritas University, Abuja have been announced by the school authority during a news conference.
According to the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Hyacinth Ichoku, three new faculties and 13 more programmes to expand its access and admission options for teeming youths seeking university education will be added by September for the 2019/2020 academic session.
Prof Hyacinth Ichoku, disclosed this plans at a news conference in Abuja, stating that the new programmes which include law, Medicine and Theatre and film Art will come on stream in the 2019/2020 academic session.
The University don also disclosed that all programmes run by the institution have been duly accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) but hinted however, that the new programmes will commence after resource verification by the commission.
Speaking on the establishment of a law faculty, he said the university has assembled some of the best brains to assist in setting up the programmebwhich is due to commence in September. He further disclosed that a team of professionals from University of Atlanta in the United State was helping to establish its medical faculty.
He said the 13 new programmes will add to the 39 programmes currently run by the institution and assured parents and students that the management of
the university was developing the institution to make it more competitive.
Adding that Veritas University has the vision of producing graduates that are highly skilled and competitive. He said seeking the truth was a key idea guiding the university and it intends to inculcate into the students the decision to seek the truth.
The VC also revealed that the 7th convocation of the university which comes up soon, will graduate about 109 students with 10 bagging first class degrees while 46 will graduate with second class upper degrees.
The VC also said, that as part of activities marking the event, a pre-convocation lecture with the theme: Softening the skills of university graduates for competitiveness and excellence will be delivered by
Dr Adaora Meji.
It could be recalled that Veritas University was established in 2007 and currently has 2,000 students, 5 colleges, 39 undergraduate programmes and 18 postgraduate programmes.
