WARRI- THE burial date for the Late Very Rev. Fr. Louis Igberaenu Odudu, who died on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 four days after escaping from his abductors has been announced.
The burial announcement which was contained in a statement signed by Most Rev. John Oke’ Afareha, Catholic Bishop of Warri Diocese and made available to Missionary Newspaper, stated that the funeral rites for the deceased priest will begin on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 with a Vigil Mass at Seat of Wisdom Chaplaincy, PTI Effurun by 4:00pm, while on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 9:00am, Office for the dead will be held for the soul of the priest.
Part of the statement read; “With perfect resignation to the will of God, I hereby inform you of the death of Very Rev. Fr. Louis Igberaenu Odudu”.
The statement further stated that the funeral Mass will follow immediately at 10:00am while interment will follow immediately after Mass at the diocesan priests’ cemetery Agbarho.
Continuing, the statement revealed that the Month’s mind Mass for the deceased clergy will hold on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Seat of Wisdom Chaplaincy, PTI by 11:00am.
Recall that Very Rev. Fr. Louis Odudu who has been away from the diocese of Warri on sabbatical leave only returned back home and was assigned to the parish barely five months ago when he was kidnapped. He was said to have escaped from the abductors before he died on the fourth day. The cause of his death is uncertain but may not be unconnected to the trauma of the kidnap.
