First Plenary of Diocesan /Religious Social Communications Directors in Nigeria

The National Nonference of Catholic directors of social communications in Nigeria was held at Eziafakaego Garden Resort Ltd. Nnokwa, Onitsha Archdiocese from the 5th to 7th of March 2018. The opening Mass was presided over by the Archbishop of Onitsha Most Rev. Valarian Okeke with the CBCN Chairman of social Communications Most Rev Dennis Isizor who is also the Auxiliary Bishop of Onitsha. The Bishop chairman of social communications exhorted the directors to be up and doing in their task of communications in their various dioceses. He reminded them that if we don’t tell our stories, other people will tell it for us and that will not be good for the church. The Bishop thanked the directors and and assure them of his prayers.The house thanked the former CBCN Chairman most Rev Godfrey Onah for the years he guided the house and wished him God’s graces in his new assignment, they also welcomed the new Chairman Most Rev Dennis Isizor. Rev Fr Dr Chris Anyanwu, the director of social Communications Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria urged the diocesan and religious directors to resist the temptation to report fake news in line with the world day of communications message of the Holy Father Pope Francis. Pope Francis urged everyone to follow and hold on to Christ the way, the truth, and the life. On a courtesy visit to the Governor of Anambra State, Dr Willi Obiano, the governor thanked the directors for the work they are doing and urged them to do more, to pray for him and for his people. The National president of the Catholic directors of social communications thanked the governor for his hospitality and for the work he is doing for his people.

It was indeed a time of reflection and renewal of commitment for the directors as they enter a new phase of communications in Nigeria.
