Confraternity of catholic Christian Mothers Warri Diocese celebrates the feast of Mother of Sorrows and Renewal of Marital Vows on 15th September, 2012 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Udu Deanery

Mother of sorrows feast is one the major feast of Mother Mary celebrated annually by members of the confraternity of Catholic Christian Mothers.  It is a celebration mothers looked up to because they all gather together in one parish all over the diocese to rejoice and merry in appreciation to our Mother Mary for Her salvific role.

Prior to this celebration, mothers had a nine days Novena prayer (6th – 14th September) which is compulsory for all mothers, Theme: “Give me a truly Christian mother and I will renew the face of the earth” the declaration of Mothers of Sorrows Feast took place in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Steel Town I, DSC, Udu Deanery.

It began with a Holy Mass celebrated by the diocesan Chaplain of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Rev Fr. Christopher Ezimadu and other priests.

During the Mass, Mothers renewed their marital vows with their spouses; also, the inauguration of the newly elected diocesan and deaneries executives took place.  At the close of the Mass, mothers their spouses and other guests proceeded to DSC Model Primary School I field Steel Town III for the social aspect of the celebration under the chairmanship of Sir and Lady F.D. Ohre (KSM) Mothers entertained their spouses and  guests with welcome songs and cultural dances by mother of Udu, Warri and Kwale deaneries.

Mothers had fun as they wine and danced to some ‘old school’ music too.

The climax of the show was the launching of the fifth edition of the confraternity of catholic Christian mothers magazine, “Together in God’s family,” theme, “living the life of the peita.”

We are very grateful and appreciate His Lordship, Rev. Dr. John Okeghene Afareha, our Chaplian, Rev Fr Christpher Ezimadu, other priests that were present, the chairman, Sir & Lady F.D. Ohre (KSM) the parents if the day, chief and Dame Joseph Popo.

Our patrons and patroness, our spouses children, representatives of the laity, CMO, CWO, St. Anne, CYON and MOD and special guests.
