With a Charge To Fathers To Be Role Model
WARRI DIOCESE: As Catholics world over celebrate the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity on Sunday, June 16, Christians have been called upon to live in unity and love with one and other as God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are one.
Most Rev. John Oke’Oghene Afareha, Local Ordinary of Warri Diocese gave the charge in a congratulatory message to all men on the occasion of the Fathers Day celebration and to mark the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity.
The Bishop in his message noted that, unity will not exist where there is no love. “Without love, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit couldn’t have been”.
On his part, the Assistant Parish Priest of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Parish Ughelli, Rev. Fr. Ezekiel Oiseh, in his homily said, the Holy Trinity is a mystery that is beyond human understanding. Maintaining that though, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are separate, but they are one God.
Recalling the word of Scriptures in Genesis 1 and 11; Rev. Fr. Oiseh restated that God at creation demonstrated the Trinitarian when He said; ” Let us make man in our own Image”.
He called on Catholics not to be ashamed to express on daily basis by making the sign of the cross. “Anytime you make the sign of the cross, you invoke Trinity.
Admonishing the men as they celebrate the Fathers Day, Rev. Fr. Ezekiel charged fathers to be role model to their children and families. He said; St. Theresa of Avilla looked unto her father as a role model, and she became Nun.
He urged Fathers never to hold any wrongs against their children or wife’s but always strive to live together as family. He reiterates that a good father or husband will ensure he provide for his family and as well protect them. He adds that that every family needs the presence of the Father.
Rev. Fr. Ezekiel Oiseh enjoined all fathers to be responsible parents who will not key to the false assertion that African men don’t marry one wife, noting that to cheat is not a nature of man nor did God create man in that nature. He however cautioned wife’s not to provoke their husbands to anger but respect,  honour and pray for them .
