Rev. Fr. Andrew Okagabre, parish priest of St. Benedict Parish Orhuworun in Udu Local Government Area of Delta, has called on Catholic parents and societies in the church to focus special attention on how their children can be raised with sound teachings of the doctrine and belief of the mother Church.

The cleric made this call while addressing Christ faithful during the diocesan feast day celebration and 50 years anniversary of St. Margeret Mary Society held at St. Benedict parish Orhuworun on Sunday, October 20.

Speaking on the way forward in keeping the Catholic faith and doctrines for the future generations, Fr. Okagbare urged families to always come together at their various homes to pray the holy rosary and always involved their children in catechism classes and other pious society in the church.

He advised parents never to demand the sacrament of baptism on a child who does not undergo the tutelage of the catechism or take the teachings serious.

He noted that such child should be properly trained and ensure he or she understood the doctrines and faith of the church very well and get them involved in the various societies of the church. This he said; will help them to know the church and be firm in their faith.

Fr. Okagbare however commended the effort of St. Margaret Mary Society in the diocese of Warri and for the keeping the society alive for the past 50 years with the involvement of children.

The ceremony also feature the official unveiling and launching of St. Margret Mary Society devotional prayer hand book.
