Catholic faithful in Warri Diocese are thrown into mourning as they received the news of the death of their priest, Very Rev. Fr. Samuel Osangbuwa Akuirene with great shock.
Rev. Fr. Samuel Akuirene who until his sudden demise yesterday was the parish priest of Saint Paul Catholic Parish, Ekurede-Itsekiri died after a very brief illness.
According to Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Benedict Ukutegbe, Director of Social Communications in the Diocese, Very Rev. Fr. Samuel Akuirene died yesterday, Wednesday, July 8, 2020 after a brief illness.
Parishioners who spoke to this reporter said the death of their parish priest is a big blow to all of them. They said no one even had a premonition of his death nor did he show any sign of serious sickness.
Since the announcement of his death, Catholic faithful across the diocese and beyond has been in tears.
We condoled the Catholic Bishop of Warri, Most Rev. John OkeOghene Afareha, the Warri Presbyterian and the entire faithful of Warri.
