Catholic Bishops Donate Medical Facilities To PTF

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria has donated 435 Hospitals and Clinics belonging to the Catholic Church nationwide to the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to help combat the pandemic in the country.

This was contained in a statement by the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey.

Making the donation in Abuja on behalf of the Bishops’ Conference, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Arch Diocese, Arch Bishop Ignatius Kaigama commended the Presidential Task Force for various steps taken so far to curtail the further spread of the disease in the country and pledged the full cooperation of the Catholic Church with all decisions of government on COVID-19.

Receiving the donation, the Chairman of Presidential Task Force and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, expressed appreciation to the Bishops’ Conference for making their medical facilities and clinics available to the Task Force.

He said the facilities would assist medical practitioners in their efforts to bring the pandemic to a standstill in the country.

The SGF urged other faith-based groups to lend a strong voice to the decisions of government particularly, on restriction of movement so as to halt the spread of the pandemic.
