WARRI, November 21, 2018- Most Rev. John Oke’Oghene Afareha of Warri diocese has stated that no human being is perfect in the sight of God, but only through His special grace, noting that departed souls needs our prayers.

Speaking on Wednesday, November 21 at the diocesan priests cemetery at the pastoral centre, Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area Delta State, venue for the memorial Mass for deceased priests and religious in the diocese, the bishop noted that every human soul needed prayers especially those in purgatory for purification and cleansing.

He stressed that God is perfect, pure and clean, as such he added; no unclean spirit or soul can come to Him nor enter His kingdom.

Maintaining that souls in purgatory depends on our prayers for them to be cleansed of every dent of sin and called on faithful to always remember to pray for all departed souls especially deceased priests, as their prayers may become a source through which they maybe allowed to enter God’s kingdom.

He commended Catholic faithful who were able to spare out time to come and pray for the repose of the souls of their departed priests. He prayed for journey mercies and God’s blessings upon their lives and urged them to be faithful to God’s work.

High point of the event was the reading of names of deceased priests and religious who have served in Warri diocese as prayers were offered for the repose of their souls.
