Catholic bishop of Warri diocese, Most Rev. John Afareha has applauded the unwavering faith of the people of Adagbrassa-Ugolo community in Local Government Area of Delta State describing them as true believers and followers of God.
The bishop who stated this on October 28, 2018 through Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Anamali, Regional Vicar for Sapele who led the high power delegation of the bishop to the victims of St. Paul’s Church building collapse sometime in September, said he was impressed by the staunch faith of the people.
Most Rev. Afareha noted that inspite of the ugly incidence that occurred that fateful Sunday when the building collapsed on worshippers leading to the untimely death of one of the parishioners, Christ faithful in the community never relented in their worship to God. He thanked them and commended their resilience and by accepting whatever that happened with faith.

Speaking further, the bishop thanked God for the quick recovery of all affected victims of the I’ll fated building.” I am most grateful to God for the healing and quick recovery of those affected during the collapsed”. “Seeing all of you in a stable condition and discharged from the hospital gives me joy, and I assure you we will continue to pray for repose of the soul of our dearest brother who lost his life in the sad incident”.
On his part, Very Rev. Fr. Clement Abobo, Chancellor to the diocese of Warri disclosed that since the incidence, priests and faithful all over the diocese have been praying for them, assuring that they will get the best of care from their parish priest, adding that the bishop has set up a committee to plan a strategic support for the ongoing building of the new church.
The bishop in his fatherly manner presented cash gifts to each of the victim in order to support their medical bills and well being.
It could be recalled that on Sunday September 2, 2018 while worshippers were preparing ahead of the 6:30am Mass, the St. Paul’s church building which was under expansion gave way leaving several worshippers injured and a life lost. Though the bishop in company of his priests and others had earlier visited victims, but this is his second visit.
