Christians have been charged to be more committed to the gospel of Christ and to bear fruits that will last.

This charge was given by the Catholic Bishop of Warri Diocese, Most Rev. John Oke’Oghene Afareha at the Ascension Catholic Church, Ekpan during the celebration of the Parish feast day and confirmation of catechumen.

According to Most Rev. John Oke’Oghene Afareha, candidates receiving the sacrament of confirmation should avail themselves to be better Christians that can win souls to Christ through their conducts and way of life.

Most Rev. Afareha enjoined the newly confirmed to be prepared to work for Christ through the church, urging them to be involved in Churches activities, and to be obedient to the Church’s teachings at all time.

He admonished the one hundred and thirty candidates to make use of the gift of the Holy Spirit which they have received in order to be true soldiers of Christ in their day to day living and called on them join any of the pious group/societies in the church as well as to be active in all parish activities.

Also speaking, the Parish Priest of Ascension Catholic Church Ekpan, Rev. Fr. Anthony Anenene thanked God for the triple celebration saying the day was a great for the parishioners as they celebrate the feast of Ascension, the Parish feast day and administering of the sacrament of confirmation on 130 candidates in the parish.

Rev. Fr. Anenene thanked the Bishop for the honour done to the Parish with the confirmation of candidates and the parishioners for all their effort in making the celebration a success.

Highpoint of the celebration was the laying on of hands and invocation of the Holy Spirit on the catechumen and anointed with the holy oil of Chrism.
