Children, Family Members Of Late Pa. Edagobo Urge To Uphold Values, Virtues, Of Their Late Father

As Rev. Fr. Justin Ogheneovo Edagobo Buries Father At Kokori, Delta State

The children and family members of Late Pa. Edward Akpojevughe Edagobo has been charged to emulate the worthy life of their late father who was described as a man with great values, good christian virtues and truthfulness.

In a homily delivered during the funeral mass held at St. James Catholic Church, Kokori Inland in Ethiope East LGA on Friday,July 31, 2020, Very Rev. Fr. Jerome Eruoghororere, MSP, disclosed that the Late Pa. Edward Edagobo was a man of honour, dignity and justice. He said, as a teacher, he cherished the teaching vocation and that through this, he impacted on all who encountered him positively.

” To those who knew him, who work with him as a teacher and a head teacher till he retired will testify that Papa was a thorough bred man who will not despise eve his subordinates”.

Rev. Fr. Jerome, MSP noted that as a disciplinarian and principled man, he was able to impacts on all his eight children same discipline, hence all of them are graduates of no mean reputes.

He urged them to ensure they follow the footprints of their father whom he described as a man of honour who do not accept mediocrity as a result.

The funeral Mass which was officiated by the Catholic Bishop of Warri Diocese, represented by Very Rev. Fr. Col. Retrd. Martin Akusu, the Vicar General, Also had a retinue of priests from within and outside Warri Diocese.

On his part, the diocesan chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Clement Abobo, on behalf of the diocesan bishop congratulated the children and family members of the deceased for a successful burial, stating that they are all grateful to God for the day. He also thanked the Kokori Catholic Community for a beautiful job done especially in bringing great transformation to the church and prayed God to bless them and protect them.

He urged the children to always stay close to their mother who was so close to her husband until his demise and prayed God to keep her.

In his appreciation message, Very Rev. Fr. Justin Edagobo, son of the deceased, recounting his seminary days experience, said one of his spiritual director use to tell him that life is turn by turn and on that premise, thanked God for the gift of life and for converging all to bid his father farewell. He also thanked the Catholic Bishop of Warri Diocese, Most Rev. John OkeOghene Afareha for his support, care and concerned and on behalf of his family expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his Lordship and to the Regional Vicars, Priests, Religious, Catholic faithful from both Mother of Redeemer Parish, Effurun, from other parishes as well as friends and well wishers of the Edagobo family and, prayed God for journey mercies.

Rev. Fr. Justin Edagobo further stated that one of the greatest values he learnt from his father was contentment,simplicity and discipline. He urged all to endeavour to live a life of simplicity and contentment just as his father did.

Pa. Edward Akpojevughe who died at the age of 80 is survived by a mourning wife and eight children, among whom is Very Rev. Fr. Justin Edagobo, Pastor in charge of Mother of Redeemer Catholic Church, Effurun.
