Catholic Journalists Urge To Preach Catholic Faith, Values With New Media

JOS, NIGERIA- Catholic Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria CAMPAN, has been charged to effectively utilized the New Media to disseminate the good morals and faith the church teaches.
His Grace, Most Rev’d Ignatius Kaigama, Administrator of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos and Coadjutor Bishop of Abuja Archdiocese gave the charge in Jos, the Plateau State Capital on September 27, 2019 during the third annual convention of CAMPAN held in Jos.
Archbishop Kaigama who gave the charge during his opening speech at the convention which has as it’s Theme:;  “The New Media and Evangelization in Nigeria “A Reflection”, noted that, with the current trend of ICT and new media which has so much occupied the interest of the people, the church must ensure that the Catholic faith and stand is properly propagated using the new media, noting that CAMPAN have the powerful tool to make this happen by hijacking the cyberspace to the favour of the Church and God.
The prelate however gave the assurance of the support of the Catholic Bishops to the CAMPAN and maintained that  stressed the need for CAMPAN has all it takes in using the new media to improve the society and as well as spreading the  social values of the church throughout the world.
 
“As catholic media practitioner, your impact is felt in the nation, we are only asking you to do more, the catholic church need to be more visible and our faith need to be better propagated to better understood by other and you have the power to do this, to collaborate with us”.
He called on participants to intensify their efforts in ensuring the new media is not used to spread wrong information’s about the church.
The three days convention features several paper presentation on the theme, speeches by renowned Catholic scholars in communication and the annual general meeting of the association.
