Don’t make religion, national policy – CAMPAN warns FG

Lagos, Missionary Newspaper- Catholic Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria CAMPAN,  has called on the federal government not to make a sentimental policy on religion, but should rather allow individuals to worship God the way they deem fit as long as their mode of worship does not infringe on the rights of others in the nation.
The group also urged the federal government to urgently check seemingly increasing rate of insecurity across the nation especially in the Middle Belt and North East regions of Nigeria.
In a resolution reached during the 2018 national convention of the association held at Our Lady of Fatima Premises beside Lumen Christi Television Lekki-Epe Road, Lagos State recently. They resolution also advised the federal government to create enabling environment to attract investors to the country in order for all unemployed youths could secure employment and avoid being used as thugs or touts to wreck havoc on innocent Nigerians especially during the forthcoming election.
They also called on INEC to ensure that the votes of every Nigerian count and to work hard to ensure the process is not rigged and peaceful.
They call on all CAMPAN members to shun the act of heating the polity with fake news and hate speeches but to onl published verified stories with credible sources before publishing, stressing that fair and balanced reportage will build the society.
While appealing for supports to journalists, CAMPAN charged the church and well place individuals and organisations in the church to train and retrain CAMPAN members to enable them carryout their jobs professionally especially in analyzing news content within the context of the Catholic faith for peaceful and progressive society.
They also resolved to synergized with related communication association in the church such as Catholic Association of Entertainment and Artistes of Nigeria CAEAN, and SIGNIS for a more coordinated activities and teaching of the Catholic faith and enhance better understanding of the church. They also resolved to be proactive and be positive change agents for betterment of the church and the society.
