Amidst the showers of blessings on Sunday the 28th day of the month of June 2015 the Catholic Diocese of Warri recorded five new deacons to the number of Clerics. The Mass of the Ordination started at about 10:30am at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Warri and was presided over by the Most Rev. John Oke Afareha. Only a handful of priests were able to attend but the event recorded a huge number of seminarians well over 75. In his homily the Bishop calls the Ordinands to preach and live the dignity of Christ. The Deacons are; Revs. Akpojotor Mark, Fregene Joseph, Odom Tobechukwu, Orjinta Jude and Ukwesan Jude.
There was much applause at the end of the ordination when the deacons took their seats on the Altar beside the Bishop. The congregation joined the newly ordained and their families for thanksgiving after the distribution of Holy Communion. After the post communion prayer, the diocesan Chancellor Very Rev. Fr. Clement Abobo appreciated the families of the newly ordained for their gifts to the Church. Headviced everyone to recognise and respect the new status of the newly ordained. The mass ended at about 2:30pm. Congratulations to the Catholic diocese of Warri and to the new Deacons.
