A Catholic priest of the Order of the Missionary Society of St. Paul MSP, Rev. Fr. Francis Ighorurhie on Thursday night drowned in Kaima town, Bayelsa State, living his church members in sorrows and mourning.

Rev. Fr. Ighorurhie, who until his death was the parish priest of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kaima, in Bayelsa State under Bomadi Diocese, was said to have drowned when he was walking on a wooden bridge leading to his house but mistakenly slips off the bridge and fell into the water which surrounded the residence as a result of the heavy flood that besieged the riverine community.

When contacted, the Director of Social Communications, Catholic Diocese of Bomadi, confirmed the incident, but couldn’t confirm if his corpse has been recovered.

The late Rev. Fr. Francis Ighorurhie, MSP, who was recently posted from Botswana to the Diocese of Bomadi, hails from Delta State. He is from the Catholic Diocese of Warri.
